Payless/Bath and Body Works

Back in May I had two interviews. One for an associate/key holder position at Payless Shoe Source and the other for a promotion to a CSL at Bath and Body Works in Taylor at a higher volume store.

I had my Payless interview first. I had two interviews; one with the store manager and other with group leader (like a district leader, with less amount of stores). They both loved me and I was hired right away.

They were only about 1 1/2 weeks apart from each other!  The job promotion at Bath and Body Works was sprung upon me and unpredicted by all means. I was told about the position on Friday evening and had an interview two days later on Sunday morning! My interview went well. There were four candidates battling for this position. Through the whole process of waiting to hear if I got the job, I completely relied on God to keep me calm. I said if I didn't get the job, God has a better plan for me and that everything has a reason. I was calm and in complete and utterly trusting in Him.
On the following Thursday, I found out my fate and this quote helped me a lot.

My store manager told me I didn't get the job. It didn't phase me, it didn't make me sad nor happy. I felt weird that I didn't have an emotion towards it. I know that it was completely because of God though. He has a better plan for me, He knows me, and He is the reason I wasn't a mess after not getting the job and great promotion.
I asked my manager what Becky (my possible new boss and person who interviewed me) had said about anything I could have done any better or anything. I was told I knew all the right answers and was very good at my answers. She just found someone who has more experience and who had experience with a higher volume store. She asked me to become a key holder during the holiday though because she did like me.

Applebee's

So I know I haven’t written in a long time. I love how I say this every time I blog as if you haven’t realized that. I guess it’s my way of apologizing.
As we all know, I haven’t done gymnastics in a LONG time! Gosh, just talking about gymnastics makes me miss it and start crying almost every time! L Anyways, my mom, Audrey, and Clara went to Applebee’s for dinner/half-off appetizers. Audrey was busy with her “little kid” packet doing a crossword and keeping herself busy. I miss being able little enough to have one! Anyways every so often she would need my help after being frustrated if she couldn’t find a word. She would nudge me and tell me. Every time I would turn and help her. However, this one time she nudged me, I was talking and couldn’t turn and help her right away. She kept nudging me and I told her to “hold on;” she continued nudging me a little harder each time and I would get a little louder (but not loud) telling her to “hold on a minute.” She finally said “Come on Kelli!” I turned to see what was wrong, and she waving out the window and it was Nicole from the gym!!! I can’t explain how happy I was! I jumped out of my seat and started running over to the entrance to give her a hug and welcome her to our table while she waited for the remainder of the group (Karla and the boys, Renee’ and Dustin, and Mrs. Baker). I was just full of excitement to see them all! I miss them and can’t wait to see them on Wednesday at the fair!! J

The Bachelorette

As we all should know by now, Desiree is the new Bachelorette!! :)

People always complain how she had a bad batch of guys.... Truth is though, there only needs to be one GREAT guy, they one she is going to marry!

Brooks- After Brooks' first date, he seems like a great guy! He seems so genuine and sincere in everything he says to her. They defiantly had a great time together with each others company. I loved how he didn't want Desiree to go on the closed road because they were "lost." Desiree kept coming back surprise after surprise and every time, he was surprised. It was really cute to see. I see him as a front runner by the great way Des talked about him.

Zak- Gosh, he's great looking. He was so incredibly sweet with his gifts to Des. He seems like he's such a romantic person with lots of love. He can make anyone laugh at his personality. However, he needs to learn he's too good of a guy to need to go around naked from his hometown shoot. He's the type of man I would go for if it weren't for that hometown nakedness. He's romantic, sweet, sincere, a protector, and good on the eyes.

Ben- I think he will cause trouble. On the first time we met him, he talked about the mother of his son. It raised some flags. He said it was just two best friends you had a baby. Everyone says to marry your best friend. Why hasn't he done that? He already has a child with her. I think he's a shady guy and one to look out after.  I don't trust him and Des is smitten by him, which I'm not likin'.

Brandon- He seems like MAN. Des in the beginning said she wants a MAN not a boy. I think through Drew's story, he grew up really fast because of his family and had to take care of his family at an early age. He is my favorite. I hope he goes far, because I think he will always have Des' back and stick up for her through his lessons at a young age. Also, I think they have great chemistry between each other.

Iraq Veteran- Loves Des with all of his heart. But NOOOOOO chemistry. sorry. sincere and sweet, just not the guy.

Same as the Veteran. They love Des so much; they're sincere and sweet. but nooooo chemistry.. sorry again.

House over Health???

I found this article online. My boss has told me how she read an article about wallflowers being toxic.
I had to look into it and this is what I found:

Everything these days seems to be bad for your health! One of my favorite things can now be added to the list. Those fun little decorative air fresheners from Bath and Body Works is toxic. That’s right toxic. You would be better off breathing in traffic smog.

Everything from air fresheners, plug-in room deodorizers, odor sanitizers, room sprays, and aromatherapy candles. We love a scented home right? Well beware air fresheners do not “purify” the surrounding air, nor do they add natural fragrances. In fact, they coat the nasal passages with an oil film (such as methoxychlor – a pesticide that accumulates in fat cells) or by releasing a nerve deadening agent, to drown out whatever smells may be deemed offensive. These scented air fresheners are very toxic and dangerous when used in confined areas such as at work or in the home! They can cause numerous respiratory problems including cancer.

We need to realize that “clean” does not have a “scent.” The best way to avoid the problem is to simply open a window instead of reaching for a scented product. You can also try:

  • burning 100% pure beeswax candles with 100% cotton wicks
  • using a drop or two of pure essential oils and distilled water, make a spritzer and mist the air.
  • using an “ash tray”– Zeolite, a mineral formed from volcanic ash, works the same way as baking soda.
  • adding drops of orange, lemon or lavender essential oils to organic cotton balls and put them around the house
  • simmering spices like cinnamon and cloves, organic lemons, fresh ginger or herbs such as rosemary or basil in a little water on the stovetop
  • adding a drop or two of pure essential oils to some hot water
  • use organic herbal sachets and potpourris
  • using freshly cut fragrant organic flowers or potted plants as air freshening factories. They clear carbon dioxide from the air and can even remove toxins.

As Bath and Body Works employees this is very hard to deal with, do we try to sell wallflowers well, know we're harming people who buy them?OR sell them as if we've never seen these articles before??? I decided I will only try to sell wallflowers if that's what the customer knows they're looking for and trying to decide on which scent they want. But I won't mention that are Wallflowers are AWESOME! They're for your house, but not health and which is more important?

This is how I'm going to deal with this saddening article: decide which is more valuable, your health or a a good smelling house???? Also, you can have a good smelling house, just use natural smelling ingredients as it gives in the list above. Hope this gets your thinking if you use Bath and Body Works Wallflowers. Use NATURAL ingredients, not only for good smelling houses but in your food too!!

Number One Broken Bone In The Body

Did you know that about all the bones in the body, the clavicle[collar bone] is the number one bone that breaks? Many people that break their clavicle in the middle or towards a middle. In February 2011 my shoulder had been hurting when I did giants on bars. I stopped doing giants and only training other skills on bars. After a few months the pain had vanished and so I returned to training giants. After a month or so it starte hurting again. Yet, once again, I stopped training giants and other skills on bars. Eventually, every skill on bars was hurting my shoulder and so I stopped training bars altogether. After X-Rays, a Catscan, and three months of resting of it trying to heal: I'm not taking any classes at MCCC, not tutoring math this fall but will be in the Winter Semester, not working hardly any hours, laying around trying to heal being lazy, writing on my blog, which needed work on it; I have to do physical therapy [PT] for a month to see it will help at all. If it is working but not completly I will go another month. However, if it doesn't help, the Dr. may have to surgically scrap part of bone that has been chipped  off he end out. It will be about a 3 week recovery and a few months till it's back to normal. It's a good surgery in that it's not repairing anything to have to heal; it's just taking out bone that is causing pain.

[Updated] Surgery

Surgery went well. It has been 10 weeks since the surgery; I was in a cast for 5 weeks, the first three I was using crutches and the other 2 weeks I was walking with a  cast on. Then I walked with a walking boot for 2 weeks, now I'm walking with tennis shoes on. Not too much pain; I'll get a little here and there, but not too much where I can't stand it or tolerate the pain at all.

However, the pain that I was having before the surgery, the entire reason I had it is still hurting. The ball of your foot that hurts with bunions. Although, the bone in my foot is straight, my toe isn't. I'm not a podiatrist, so I don't know if the bunion can still grow and hurt. I will go back Oct. 9th to make sure all is well and that it is good and well.

Will update you on my foot as soon as I have more info to update you with.
